According to WTO’s International Trade Statistics, the value of Iran’s steel imports in 2008 was $8.1 billion. Iran’s steel import in 2000 was 1.0% of world’s total imports increasing to 1.3% in 2008.

The comparison of Iran’s steel imports in different years present a 23% increase in Iran’s steel imports from 2000 to 2008. The annual percentage change for steel imports in 2006 was 9% and in 2007 51% while it decrease 2% in 2008.
